The Committee to Elect Greg Stratman
55 Clover St
Worcester MA 01603
I am a candidate for the Worcester city council , District 5.
My background will bring diversity to the council. I'm a father of nine, a history buff, and a retired police officer, spending the majority of my 37+ year career at the state level. I have trained to be a pilot due to a fondness of aircraft, sang in the church choir, and coached and refereed youth basketball.
Raised on a working farm in Bellingham, I moved to Worcester in 2004 from Auburn believing, among many other reasons, it was financially advantageous, but as time progressed those circumstances now seem long gone as property taxes (and spending) have dramatically increased while our first responders are under attack and the quality of services and roads have declined.
Residents deserve more than what they're getting for their money, and I believe my background can help bring about the change they deserve.
As my background indicates, I defend and support law enforcement, and because it is the foundation for safe neighborhoods and safe parks. Without safety there cannot be the peace and economic growth needed to move the city forward.
I support the lowest possible residential tax rate and believe it can be accomplished by applying time honored techniques and fiscal restraint. You deserve to have your tax dollars spent with care and with measurable results.
Economic growth is a result of low and stable taxes, and applying what I've learned in my career that makes neighborhoods and parks safe, Worcester can become a more attractive and affordable city to start a business, work, and live in.
Economic growth will also help pay for infrastructure needs in his district, such as road and infrastructure maintenance.
Constituency services is a high priority for me. My career has always been to serve the public and in my retirement from law enforcement I will be able to dedicate more of my time toward constituency services than others busy in their careers.
I pledge to represent your common sense on the city council.

The lowest possible residential (and commercial) tax rate means economic growth , more jobs, and will attract more businesses to Worcester.
There are many ways and techniques to get there, but the city council must be willing. I am willing.
I support law enforcement and first responders as they protect us and keep our streets, neighborhoods, and city safe.
Without them the city cannot reach its potential.
Anyone who's driven though Worcester knows fixing and maintaining the roads is a priority.
We must also be smart - don't repave a street then dig it up next month to fix a pipe. Good roads and infrastructure is necessary to improving Worcester's overall quality of life.
Without safe neighborhoods and parks you cannot have the peace required for safe schools and economic activity that leads to economic growth and upward mobility.
As a retired state trooper, I will continue to serve the public.
